Laura Gordon , MA MFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
“At eight years old, I first stepped foot in a therapy office, gripped by fear following the tragic death of a beloved cousin — a loving God allows a drunk driver to hit a young boy riding his bike on a road I traveled everyday– my world was turned upside down. I could no longer do anything alone, and my young mind was full of terrifying thoughts. Years later, while trying to navigate my way through the teen years as a middle child in a big family, my parents led us to family therapy. There were a lot of unmet expectations, explosive feelings, and hurtful communication patterns that were causing problems in our home. I continually felt like a disappointment, despite my endless efforts to be what I thought everyone else needed and wanted me to be for them. I didn’t know what to do with my anger, insecurity, and stress. In my early twenties, I experienced the pain of an abusive professional relationship and needed help as I was navigating through big transitions and major life decisions. Desiring to know and accept my true self, I returned to therapy. I was searching for clarity, confidence, and peace.
Throughout the course of my life, therapy has been a safe and nurturing space – a relationship that has helped foster healing, understanding, empowerment, and much needed change. It has helped me find my voice, understand my worth, and weather life’s challenges with greater resiliency.
I have made it my mission as a therapist to offer people the help that has been given to me. I consider it a privilege to come alongside others as they courageously journey towards a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. I’ve found an extreme passion and joy in working with teenagers and adults who find themselves in tough places, fighting against their own thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I aim to help them develop a greater confidence, give voice to thoughts and emotions, process and heal from pain” Click HERE for Laura’s Video.
